Hi,

I'm finding the information very confusing and wondered if someone could clear this up for me, please.

According to the UK US Embassy site for packet 3 i make copies of my compiled documents. I keep the original to take to my interview and the copies I send to the NVC in the US. IS this correct? I find this odd because I was told to keep the affidavit of support from my US partner and take it back to the UK with me. But now it seems I send it back to the US who then forward it back to the US embassy in London. Seems kind of pointless.

Secondly, the DS160 form has many odd questions- chiefly in the security section - It advises you that if you answer YES to any of the following questions you will be questioned over it by a consulate officer. The security questions are all about espionage, terrorism etc... This would be fine and my answer is NO to them all but in the middle of these questions is one mundane question asking if I have a list of my vaccinations. My answer is YES so I'm confused because apparently if I answer YES to any question then eyebrows are raised and you are interviewed.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I don't know how packet 3 works in the UK, but you should answer yes on the question about vaccinations on the DS-160 form. You won't get a visa if you don't have your vaccinations, so that's a given. Eyebrows might be raised if you DON'T answer yes.

You are required to obtain the original documents or certified copies, and one photocopy (with the exception of your passport and photographs) of the following documents for yourself and each family member applying for a visa. All documents are required even if they were previously submitted to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services with your petition. Please do not submit any documents to the NVC

You are required to bring all of the documents applicable to you to the Embassy on the day of the interview. The failure to do so may result in your application being denied.

Hope this helps. I'm not to the ds160 part yet so cant really answer about that but I would definitely mark yes since you have the immunization records that's what they are asking.

Thanks for the replies.

This is interesting regarding what we send because the link you have says don't send to the NVC but the link I was given says otherwise...

https://uk.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/16/2015/11/iv_and_k_interview_checklist2014.pdf

Quote from it...

From November 12, 2014: Applicants are required to submit copies of their documents to NVC and bring the original document to the visa interview. The original Affidavit of Support, Form I-864 is still required by NVC and will be forwarded to the Immigrant Visa Unit with your file and available to the consular officer at the interview.

Is my mistake in thinking the NVC is handling my request still? IS it just the UK US Embassy that is only dealing with it now? IF so then keeping both copies makes sense

It seems like that document is for both K-1 visas and CR-1 visas. As a K-1 you don't send anything to NVC, but with a CR-1 I think you do.

I see yes I have looked at that checklist before too. I think the website link I sent you has been updated since that check list was last updated. So honestly I would go with what I showed you. That's what I am going to do seems correct from what I have researched on recent interview reviews.

Thanks for the replies.

Congrats!!!

I can't answer "Yes" to the vaccination part as I'm 2 months pregnant. I can not even get the Flu shot until I'm past 25 weeks into my pregnancy.

You do not send anything to the NVC for a K1 visa.

The affidavit of support (I-134) and supporting financial documents are given from the USC to the UKC to take with them to their interview. The UKC will give these documents to the CO at the embassy directly from their hands. You do not give it to the NVC and they will forward nothing for you.

If your case has been approved from the USCIS, the NVC will forward the case to London, but for interview time you will need to show certain documents to the embassy directly.

You are required to answer truthfully to all questions on the DS160. When it asks if you have a list of your vaccinations, you absolutely should answer yes to it. Have you had an appointment for your medical at Knightsbridge yet? Did you obtain a printout of vaccinations you have had from your GP? Did you have vaccinations given at Knightsbridge? Do you know if your case is even in London yet? This is what the DS160 is referring to. If you are pregnant you need to provide some proof of this to Knightsbridge, and you will be waived from vaccinations. Some of the vaccinations aren't contraindicated for pregnancy though and in that case.... You will be required to have the appropriate vaccinations that aren't contraindicated. If you do not obtain these vaccinations, you may still obtain the visa. However you will not be able to file and complete adjustment of status in the US without obtaining the vaccinations (if you do not obtain them prior and you were not given a waiver) in the US, provided by a US civil surgeon (for a high cost).

You will not be questioned or grilled over vaccinations. Knightsbridge completes your medical, gives you a copy of your vaccination sheet which you must keep for your records (DS2035), and will send the full report to the London embassy for them to review.

See the UK specific guide for instructions on London process and vaccination list. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide-do-not-post-questions-in-thread/
