The interview for our K1 visa was September 22nd. We were given a 221(g) for missing documentation. Less than 2 weeks after the interview, we were able to gather the missing documents, and mailed in the passport as instructed. We have not been able to find much on processing times specific to the consulate in Amsterdam.

Is there anyone here with a similar experience, and, if so...

- Is another interview required in order to receive a visa or will it be mailed if approved?

- Once the consulate received your document, how long did it take you to get a reply?

Moderator- Could you please move this, if not in the right place, to the Netherlands portal?

I want to post this in case anyone else finds them self in the same situation, and needs their nerves calmed, like I needed.

The embassy received our missing document on 10.4.16. We stalked the CEAC website for updates, and saw nothing...not even an update that the document was received. The following Monday was a holiday, and the embassy was closed. The next day 10.11.16, our status on CEAC changed to "READY". Daily we would see changed to the "update date". We even noticed the update date changed around 3 am (Netherland time) one day. On Friday 10.14.16, our case changed to AP. This is the normal AP processing that everyone goes through before the visa is issued. On this update, we also noticed the case creation date changed as well, and our case was now labeled a nonimmigrant visa.

I hope this is helpful to someone in the future.

Hello,

I had my interview for H1B visa at Amsterdam consulate on 13,October 2016. The interview went well but at the end the officer gave back my passport and issued the 221g form to give some documents which i immediately did right away. He kept the original approval which i got from USCIS.

The case status on CEAC shows that the case is in Administrative processing. Do you have an idea how long they usually take to issue the visa?

I assume you got your status changed from Administrative processing to Visa ready in couple of day.

Please reply to my question.

Thank you

Sebastian, it took about a week and 2 days after sending in the missing documents, for them to change our status to ready, then 3 days to the good AP. we expect the visa in the mail soon, and we will keep you updated on it.

In short, count on it taking about a little more than 2 weeks. but don't be afraid to ask the Visa Unit about how far along your case is. we nagged them pretty bad ourselves.

To add to the above entry...

Case remained in AP until Monday 10.17.16, and it changed to ISSUED!!

A few hours after seeing the "Issued" status, we received an email from the embassy with the tracking information. The visa is expected to arrive tomorrow Tuesday 10.18.16, exactly 2 weeks from the date the embassy received our missing document for the 221(g).

Hello,

When you submitted the missing documents, Did they tell you the administrative processing usually takes 4-5 weeks?

That's what they mailed me when i asked about the processing time. Wanted to check if that was the same answer given to you.

Thank you

No, no one from the embassy ever stated a time frame, only to submit the document as soon as possible.

Thanks for this post.

I am in a similar situation. The visa officer asked me to submit the document via email. But the email mentioned seems to send automatic reply that it is not in use until further notice.  I have no other way to contact them. I have filled the contact form with my query but no response for 3 days.  Could you please suggest how to contact them to get the relevant information.

Thanks

I think we're in the same situation here. I also received a 221(g) after my interview on June 19th, I had to deliver some proof. However, I did not get any advice on to do it via e-mail, today I sent it via regular post (it had to come from my fiancé in the U.S.). Please let us (me) know if you received any e-mail.

I had got a yellow paper with the email address. I was asked to send the document to that email id.  But I haven't got any response after that. How about you. Did you get any response? I am thinking i should also send a hard copy of the document then.

I got a very standard (white) paper, with a checking list of 221(g) documents they could need. The officer wrote down next to 'other' the documents related to our case and it said their postal address and e-mail address on the bottom. I posted it on Wednesday by registered post (of course PostNL lost it) and it was received last Monday. On Friday I emailed the scanned documents (out of precaution that it got lost forever by PostNL), but I received and e-mail back that the e-mail address was no longer in use and I sent it to the e-mail address mentioned in the reply. Yesterday the status got updated on that date (still administrative processing though).

I repeatedly messaged to their FB page and confirmed that the given email address is OK and i should send my document there. Although it still gives an automatic reply that it is not in use anymore. Its very weird for a visa processing consulate to operate in this manner.  There is no clear communication. No acknowledgement of receiving the email with documents.  I will keep you posted if my case proceeds further.

That’s indeed strange. May i ask when you had the interview? And it was in Amsterdam, right? I think it’s also weird that they have 2 different forms of the 221(g).

Did your ‘case update date’ change on the ceac website? That could indicate that they have received it. It’s also weird they’d communicate via Facebook. Did you also send it to the new email address communicated in the automatic reply? With registered post you at least get a notification someone signed for the post.

sorry for all the questions... I’m also still freaking out about the visa, it’s them deciding about a very important part of our future.

The interview was on June 18 in Amsterdam.  My case update date is still the same. There was no other way to get a reply from them. I had earlier used their contact from to ask my questions but did not get any response. So I bugged them on fb. They only confirmed that the email address is correct and your documents will be received on that email address. The other email was not correct either. I got the reply that this email address does not exist!!

That’s really annoying! I guess we’re applying for a different visa (k1 for me), and that’s why the procedures are different?
