NVC In Transit to Embassy

Hello!

So I got a letter from the NVC on August 9, 2016 saying that our petition is being sent to the embassy (Dakar, Senegal). I realized that I could look up my case at CEAC after trying it a second time under 'Immigrant Visa' even though the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa...This lady gives good info (http://www.mrspresson.com/immigration/129f-fiancee-petition-process/nvc-ceac-status-tracker/)

1. How long has anyone waited between this NVC letter and their finance hearing back in *Senegal?*

2. Should I wait until we hear from the embassy and get our checklist to do anything else? Or is there something I should do while we are waiting? I'm nervous to do anything advised via stuff on the internet because I'm not sure the when/where/what/hows of it all...that is why I've been waiting to hear back before moving forward.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Amy & Khadim

What is your case status right now on the CEAC website?

If it's 'In Transit' I would try to find your case on the DHL tracker and make sure it arrived.

If it's 'Ready' I would email your embassy.

"If you believe your I-129F has been approved and forwarded to the U.S. Embassy in Dakar, please email DakarImmigrantVisa@state.gov. Please put the words "K visa applicant" in the subject line and provide the name of the petitioner, the name of beneficiary and the case number in the body of the email. Without this information, the U.S. Embassy cannot research your case."

It is 'In transit' (good!) but I'm surprised it's taken about 6 weeks.

How would I track in on DHL? I haven't read anything on that aspect. Where would I find said tracking number? Is it the case number on my NVC letter?

You need to call the NVC and ask when they shipped your file to figure out the shippers reference number.

With it being so long, I would also think that it should be there by now.

I'd contact the Embassy and ask if they've received your case.

If they haven't I would contact the NVC.
