Sorry if I'm being stupid, or missing something. We have moved once since I arrived in the US. It was before we filed the ROC. I did a change of address (as the immigrant) but my husband (my sole sponsor) didn't complete anything for USCIS with regards to this.

Am I correct in assuming that he didn't need to, as it's clear that we're living together as we're husband and wife? Or did we mess up, and he should have also completed a form to indicate a change of address?

Yes, your husband is your sponsor because he filed form I-864(Affidavit of Support) during the immigration process. Your husband should have mailed form I-865 within 30 days of the address change. Having said that, he should mail the form as soon as possible with an explanation of delayed form I-865. It is required by the law. Some VJ users reported in past that they have sent the form late without an issue. It should be sent as soon as you are aware of it.

Thank you! Had no idea that he had to complete a separate change of address form. We will get this mailed out tomorrow, so that USCIS have it on file. Hopefully there's no issue with the delay... We moved 2yrs ago 😣👍

Honestly, most people are not aware of this. I understand your frustration but as long as you send it and write an explanation you should be good. A cover letter explaining that you were not aware of this form and when you came to know about it you filed it. Good luck.

Reporting a change of address with USCIS as far as I know is a ghost policy that exist but is NEVER enforced so it’s not that serious like some y’all are making it out to be. I’ve switched residences a countless times and never for once updated with USCIS and no one ever questioned me about it. And in my past applications from I-485 to I-751 I’ve listed all my address history and no one ever said, “hey how come you’ve lived in all these places and didn’t report them to us” It’s really not that serious and while it’s required, it’s not mandatory.

That may have been true in the past but under this new administration where immigration has become such a strong topic it's better to be safe than sorry. Issues they didn't enforce in the past, they now are and are being very vague about the specifics about it.

Yeah, you have point but it's the law. It is mandatory to file the change of address forms. see the link below:

Penalties for Failure to Comply

A willful failure to give written notice to the USCIS of a change of address within 10 days of moving to the new address is a misdemeanor crime. If convicted, you (or the parent or legal guardian of an alien under 14 years of age who is required to give notice) can be fined up to $200 or imprisoned up to 30 days, or both. The alien may also be subject to removal from the United States. (INA Section 266(b)). Compliance with the requirement to notify the USCIS of any address changes is also a condition of your stay in the United States. Failure to comply could also jeopardize your ability to obtain a future visa or other immigration benefit.

I had my passport stamped last aug 30,2017 and will be expiring on feb 28,2018. was wondering if I should go again to Isis to have another stamp just in case the green card has not been released yet at that time? thank you very much for your help

I was only given a six month stamp. Others have been given a year. I think it's dependant on the office.

Yes, unfortunately you will need to make an info pass appointment to get another stamp 👍 You could always try calling USCIS first, and placing a service request... I think that gives them 30 days to respond to you, and given that you will need another stamp and will likely be nearing the 15 month validity for biometrics, they may push your case through in time to avoid that. I'm not saying they will, but it might be worth calling them to discuss it.

Thank you very much for your help! Appreciate you!
