Just wondering... I checked our status on the USCIS app, press the search button and typed in the receipt number before ours and did 10 counts. I noticed that the receipt numbers before ours were seen by uscis, as well as the receipt numbers after ours. (Which most of them are approved already.) Our status just says "Case was received" Im confused if they skipped our petition or what. Got any thoughts on this?

Im a july 2016 filer and our service center is at Texas.

It happens all the time. We waited 164 days to be approved at Nebraska. The case directly next to ours was approved 4 months before ours.

Some cases take longer than others. There are background checks to be done, and various other procedures. Think of it like the lines at the grocery store. You join line 3 to pay for your groceries but the person in front of you has a lot of questions and maybe their credit card is rejected, maybe the employee works slower and so on. Meanwhile people who joined lines 2 and 4 the same time as you have already paid and left the store because they had small simple purchases and the employees on registers 2 and 4 are faster.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

I guess they got luckier then. Have you tried tracking their status on the website? Ours was "Case was received" No history or sign that they "touched" our case.

You just filed last month. Expect about 5 months. You don't know if all those petitions are stand alone I-130's, expedites, etc. Are they all I-130'w yo looked at or you just were looking at the case#

dwheels76 - they are the 'lucky' filers who got their case sent to Texas... don't compare to Nebraska.....

I wouldn't read too much into it or focus on other case too much. Focus on yours. There may be special reasons why the others were approved so quickly. It will happen when it's meant to happen. In the meantime, start preparing for the NVC stage so that you can speed through it when it arrives. That's a much better use for your time right now than worrying about other cases and their approval times.
