I paid the fee for the green card on July 5th and he entered the US on July 15th. It's been over five weeks, so maybe not that long, but USCIS said it could take up to 120 days? Right now, he can't get an ID because he needs proof of residency. He can't get any proof (bank account, credit card, etc) without an ID. USCIS still has our case information from when the I-130 was approved so it isn't really updated.

Any advice on how to handle this? Do we just have to wait it out?

Thanks.

He got his social security card that's proof. I had inquired about Obamacare for me and my husband before he even got here who knew I needed that letter later It had me and him listed so they accepted that at the DMV. Pus we had got a letter from USCIS about our fee (it didn't go through so we had to pay with another card about 2 weeks later).

And its taking 4 to 8 moths to get green card.

He needs two items that are proof of residency in the state. They include bills, bank accounts, mail from the government, some other things. We were counting on his social security card + green card as being mail from the government, but if it's going to take four months, I don't know what else we can use. Maybe a credit card, but those also usually require an ID.

Same in Texas we needed 2 pieces of mail and 1 had to be at least 30 days old. So the SS card mailing and the Heath care mailing did it.

Sorry hope you can find something.
