'Case Approved' status, no physical Green Card yet. Can I travel abroad?

So we're planning a trip to good old England in a couple of months. I got my online notice of the i-485 being approved yesterday. On the off chance that we still don't have the physical Green Card 6-8 weeks from now, will I be okay to travel without getting the application refused? I'm assuming that the relevant people will have my details on their system and it will just show that I've been approved without me having to flash a card. Anybody have experience with this?

You need the physical card in hand. Online notice doesn't hold water as the information online had been plagued with inaccurate information. Also, what if the actual card has inaccurate information. Wait until card is in hand prior to leaving.

But I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you don't get your Green Card in 2 weeks start making calls.

Okay. I cleverly do not have AP. Would you say that 2 weeks is a usual wait to get the GC?

After approved, within the next 5 days you should get a Card was mailed to me status change, or if you didn't already get a "card in production" status change. GC's are sent priority mail, you should usually have it within a week of when the status changes to "Card was mailed to me". If you don't have the card within 30 days of the "card was mailed to me" status, contact them for them to replace the most likely lost GC.

Example, my status changes said "Card in production" THEN "approved" then a few days later "Card was mailed to me."

You should see a card in a few weeks or so as Ash.1101 stated. If not, or if you have not received a new status notice, you might consider an InfoPass appointment to find out what the issue is.

I would say get an infopass appointment and get it sorted out.
