Hello all! My fiance is getting ready to send me her documents so that I can start and then finalize the package to send out to officially start the process.

I've talked with others and I'm pretty sure I have everything (I go all over this site to make sure but I know some of this goes over my head so I appreciate any looking out for something I may have missed).

She (Brasil) Me (US). She needs to send me the following:

Letter of Intent to marry - Which needs signed and dated in ink. My question for this is, Does she need to date it there or can I date it here for her? Will the date at all affect the process for any reason due to it being signed and dated some time before the processing center would receive it? Doesn't seem like an issue, but I would like to hear thoughts. Also (and important question), does she need to get this notarized at all for any reason? I didn't catch this anywhere for the letter of intent, but it can't hurt to ask.

Passport Photos - They are to be labeled with her name, date of the photo on the back, and then placed into a plastic bag. Any notarizing for these for any reason? No signatures on the photos at all?

G-325A - Biographic information. The passport photos are attached to this form, correct? one more time, any notarization for this document required?

And that's it. She will be sending this stuff this week to me so I want to make sure we have EVERYTHING covered. If I have missed anything, please let me know. I don't believe I need her birth certifcate or anything of that nature.

We are just doing the K-1 visa/I-129F package and for her to come here to the States to live here. :-) Can't wait to officially send this in so we can actually put something down on our timeline and enjoy/freak out as time passes by and all of us see our statuses change hoping for that one day to come..

Where you finally wrap your arms around your special someone...

and you DON'T have to let go.

Ever again.

There's no need for her to send you an original signed letter of intention to marry or the g325a. They can be filled and signed by her and sent to you scanned by email. Doesn't need to be notarized either, and can be dated a while before sending in the petition, I wouldn't wait much to send the package after getting her docs though.

Only her name is needed at the back of the passport photo, nothing else.

Attach the photos to the g325a, no need to be notarized.

As stated, none of these need notary. Also as stated, the G-325A and the intent to marry can be signed and scanned then emailed to you. People use to receive RFE's for this, but there's not been any in many years. I had my fiance' sign them to be on the safe side, but the people sending them in now are scanning them, and no RFE's as of now. The Embassy may require her to sign or a new one at the interview, but that is a long way off! Good luck on your immigration journey!

Nothing in this process needs to be notarized unless some instructions or an immigration/consular officer tells you specifically to do so. Most people never notarize anything.

Read through the I-129F instructions. They tell you to lightly print the names on the back of the passport photos and A#, if someone already has one.

She should date when she signs. They can be scanned in and emailed to you for you to print out and include. If you are going to mail the passport photo anyway though, might as well mail them all together. BUT the passport photo can be scanned and printed out by you in the correct 2 x 2 inch size as well.

Passport photos do not need to be attached to the G-325A forms. The I-129F form requires the passport photos, not the G-325A. The guide here suggests to attach them to the respective G-325A forms. I suppose that is so they can easily be found on those required bio forms for each person.
