Good afternoon VJ members,

My fiance who is from the Philippines and I have a few questions regarding NVC requirements.

Firstly, after reading the instructions regarding our K1 visa with the NVC, I cannot seem to find the information for where my fiance needs to obtain US police clearance since she was living in Florida for more than six months when she was here on a J visa. Is there anywhere on their website I can find this information? All I have been able to find on Google is that we contact the police in the locale where she was living and request it from there.

Secondly, as far as I can tell, there is no reciprocity fee associated with the K1 in my case.

Third, how would we know the intended arrival date in the US for my fiance on the DS-160 if we haven't finished the NVC process and she hasn't had her interview in the Philippines?

Fourth, I take it that the address she intends to live in the USA will be my present address, even though I might not be at this current address when she gets back, is that correct?

Fifth, there is no occupation option that applies to my current occupation in the DS-160, so what should I do there?

Sixth, should we not complete the section regarding medical vaccinations if she has not had her medical exam and vaccinations in the Philippines yet?

Seventh, "Are you a former exchange visitor (J) who has not yet fulfilled the 2-year foreign residence requirement?" Can anybody explain what this means?

Eighth, as far as travel companions go, I assume there is another visitor visa process in order for her mother to accompany her on her trip to the US for our wedding, so I assume for now we should answer this section as no.

I apologize for the plethora of questions, and I do greatly appreciate any help you all can be with my questions.

Thank you so much,

Matthew

1) No PC needed for the US, per USCIS website.

2) huh?

3) Guesstimate is fine

4) Sure

5) Choose the closest fit? What's your occupation?

6) All parts of the form must be completed

7) It asks if she has lived in the US on a J visa that had a 2-year home residency requirement and if that time is not yet completed?

8) Yup

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

The I-129 seems to have different police clearance requirements than the

g-325a or am I reading it wrong?

g325a is obsolete for the i-129f

Thread from 2016 is now closed to further comment.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
