The appearance of the flag on the perennial birthers desk was first noted by Iowa politics blog Iowa Starting Line. Kings office uploaded video of the interview to his official YouTube page.

Iowans fought and died to uphold the Union, Betty Andrews, president of the Iowa-Nebraska NAACP State Area Conference of Branches, told the Des Moines Register. And given (Kings) recent attempt to block Harriet Tubman from the twenty dollar bill, and of course his track record, I just think Iowa voters need to take another look at who they elected to office.

In a previous interview with the Register, King bragged about his collection of Civil War-era artifacts, and praised his family members, who fought in the war, for being abolitionists. He did not appear to mention the Confederate flag on his desk.

That other flag on his desk flew over slaves for how long?

Last week, U.S. Representative Steve King, a Republican from Iowa, spoke to Sioux City TV station KCAU about the bill he recently introduced in Congress. In the video interview, a Confederate flag is displayed on Kings desk, along with the U.S. flag, the Iowa state flag, the Gadsden flag, and the Papal State flag.

King defended the display of the Confederate flag over the South Carolina state Capitol last year, following Dylann Roofs attack on a historic black church in Charleston. (The flag was ultimately lowered.) More recently, the congressman tried to block Harriet Tubman from being put on the $20 bill.

Which ones NB? Are you deflecting or just operating on a handheld in the swamplands of Florida still?

I dont know , I am unaware that Iowa was ever governed under the confederacy...I do know that the cup rack in the background is killer

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

I actually think it's way past time for responsible people to understand why so many find that offensive. It was not meant to be a symbol of hate, but so many white sumprmist groups have used at as one, that there is no way it has a place in todays society

The phone typo was around before the phone . It's well expected now , it's accepted. It's my style and appreciated by my many VJ fans. It's like Condi Rices Sexy tooth gap. It's an beloved imperfection. Heck if I started spelling and using kerect Inglis h it would be like FDR walking. It would ruin everything. Just be glad you are here on the front end of the emergence of a cultural icon.

PS I get lots of plus ones from both sides of the ditches . They all ache to drive the middle of the road

Whoa there, slow down on the cultural icon thing. ;-)

Also, you may think I'm in one of those ditches, but I'm not. Nor am I in the middle of the road either (people tend to get run over that way). I use a jetpack.
