Hey there! I've been married and living with my husband outside the US for 7 years now. I am a stay at home mom and have not worked in the last 7 years. I just recently re-established my domicile to the US. But since I do not make income myself, I can not actually sponsor my husband. My dad wants to sponsor him. I know that I still have to fill out the I-184 and provide proofs/explanations of not having income for myself/ filing taxes. Will my dad fill out I-184 or the I-184a? We will be moving to my parents home initially until my husband finds work, so that's why I thought that my dad could fill out the I-184a. Also my husband owns a flat in the country we live in, can we use that as an asset, as well as provide my husbands current work income?

Thanks

Your dad needs to fill in a I-864 like you, as you are not financially tied, not in the same household per USCIS definitions.

His household will be your dad and mom, your husband, and anyone else your dad is financially tied to, such as minor kids, dependent parents etc.

I have another question to extend to what I originally posted. This may be a silly question but I believe I have confused myself from reading some other posts and I just want clarification. Now that I understand I will fill out my own separate I-184 and my dad will fill out his own separate I-184; will we need to have both of our signatures on both forms or for my I-184 be only my signature and his I-184 be his signature only?

There is no I-184.

I-864 is needed for both of you. You sign yours. He signs his.
