Email from US Consulate Amsterdam: "Are you married?"

This morning I found an email in my inbox from the U.S. Consulate in Amsterdam, reading:

"The United States Consulate in Amsterdam is conducting a study regarding K-1 Visas. Our records indicate you received a K-1 Visa. Please reply to this email message as soon as possible answering the following question: Are you currently married?"

The email was sent by a Megan L. Horney. It all looked legit (email address was @state.gov). Did any other (former) K-1 visa holders from the Netherlands receive this email?

I'm still in process so I won't receive one obviously lol, but if you want to be sure you can maybe e-mail the official e-mail adress from AMS Consulate first? Asking them if they are doing study on K-1 visas because you received an e-mail about it. Also put your answer in there at the same time. @state.gov does really seem real though.

Here's the reply from the Consulate (if anyone would be interested):

"Thank you for your email. This is indeed a real study we are conducting. We do not request any other personal information from you other than if you are married to the person you petitioned for. We’re happy to answer other questions you may have."

That's good news. Good for the embassy, too, to check on such things, because it probably means that they're evaluating their processes.
