Income just barely meets guidlines, so should i use a joint sponsor?

I-864 Question: I make about 22,000 per year right now, and though that technically meets the requirement, I am wondering if it might be beneficial to use a joint sponsor as well. Is there any downside to that? I don't want any delays at NVC!

The nvc will be fine. The consulate or embassy may or may not be depending on how long you've had the job and your previous tax returns.

NVC does not want your I-864, that is presented during your Wife's interview at the Embassy.

No, they definitely want it for a CR1 visa!

Gotcha, Since the NVC does not schedule for all countries, I assumed, and we all know what happens when one assumes. Some countries you send the I-864 to the NVC, others you do not.

All CR1/IR1 visa I-864 is sent to the NVC who sends it to the consulate or embassy for the decision.

It just seems like a lot of paperwork if you don't need, it. However, I would hand carry a joint sponsor AOS (with documents) to interview if you feel uncomfortable. I would not send it to the NVC because it's just one more bunch of paperwork for them to check and mess up on.

I would send it to NVC along with the rest of the documents in the list if I can obtain it now. I sponsored my parents and it took them exactly 30 days since receipt to tell me regarding a missing document(police clearance in our case), and another approx 30 days until they approved and forwarded the case to US embassy in Manila.

Ok, thanks for the advice. How long did it take until the the interview after the NVC approved the case?
