Moving to a different State. Apply before we move or after we move?

It is time to apply to remove conditional status for my wife. We are re-locating from Illinois to Georgia in the next two weeks.

My question is: Should we send application before we move or make the move and then send the application?

Here in Illinois we live in my parent's house so there is no lease under our name, In Georgia we will rent an apartment so there will be a lease agreement. That is the only advantage I can think of for waiting to file until we move.

Any help and direction will be greatly appreciated!

I would wait to file until after moving. However, the new lease for a few days out so is not going to add much in terms of evidence. Good luck!

Whether you live in Illinois or Georgia will determine what service center will adjudicate your wife's case. The California Service Center processes applications from Illinois, and the Vermont Service Center processes applications from Georgia residents. If your intent is to reside in Georgia on a permanent basis, I would research what needs to be done in order to be considered a resident of that state, wait to be moved there, file an online form AR-11 to register the change of address, and then file Form I-751.

How far is your ROC deadline? If there's still time, I'd suggest you file the AR-11 for change of address first before removing conditions. AR-11 is supposed to be filed within 10 days of moving to the new address. Otherwise things might get messy with communications sent to the wrong address. This is especially important in your case since Illinois and Georgia fall under two different Service Centers. If your husband is the AOS sponsor, he would have to file Form I-865 as well. ROC deadline is still far away, about 85 days. But if I file from GA I can still send evidence from Illinois correct?
