CR1 or IR1?

I have been married for 2.5 years but originally filed for my Green Card in October 2014. It was finally granted on April of 2016 and I made my way to the USA where I noticed that I was not issued with a IR1 but a CR1. My understanding was that if you had been married for 2 years or more at the time the visa was issued it should have an IR1 status. Can anybody confirm and advise if they have had a similar issue? Also does anybody know how I could go about rectifying this please?

If you were married 2 years or more at the time you entered the US yes it should be a 10 year green card. If the wrong card was sent fill out the I-90 and send that and card back with copy of marriage certificate or just make an infopass appoint and take all in and get the corrected card sent to you.

How long should a SSN number take to come through please? I have been to Social Security Office and they tell me that I applied at point of entry into the US so they cannot help me and that I should wait 4-6 weeks? That's a long time to wait before you can start looking for work. Has anybody else had that same experience?

Although we checked the box on the ds260 requesting a ss card, we went to the local ss office about a week and a half after entry along with the completed application. The card was mailed to us about a week later. I have seen cases of people who ask for the card on their ds260 and do eventually get it and some who never get it. Also, I've seen many people get their ss card the same way we did. I would suggest going to your local ss office on another day along with the application and seeing what they say. As for how soon can you work, you can work right now, but you cannot get paid until you have the ss card. So basically you can start working as soon as you have your ss card.
