Hi there,

I'm filling out application for someone having a green card to renewal Vietnam Passport . The old passport book has been expired. I don't know the fee for renewal. The website doesn't mention the fee. I called but no one answer the phone or reply email. Would anyone in here could help please if recent had passport renewal?

Much appreciated.

I don't know if they changed the fee or not but according to http://www.vietnamonline.com/az/vietnam-passport-renewal-in-the-us.html it should be $110

Fee: $110 in money order or cashier check, payable to "Embassy of Vietnam" or "Consulate of Vietnam", whichever you are sending your application to.

For example if you get a new passport in New York, please make your check payable to "The Consulate of Vietnam in New York"

Hi there,

Thank you for the information.

I don't know why they're not put the fee out. I called them and no one answer the phone. Very poor services.

Try to call again at 2PM est time at New York Embassy. Price seems cheaper at Embassy than Consulate. Make sure you includes return paid shipping label too, they won't mail you back if you don't have one. They will call you and beg for one.

Hi there,

Did you apply for renewal vietnameses passport? How much for renew fee? I've tried to contact VN embassy many times in many days, but they're unable to take the phone. I agree with you....It's bad service! I need to renew my Dad's passport.  It will be expired on Jan 2018. One of my friend told me...the renew fee is $170, but she is not sure also (another person told her fee is $170). I've known fee has been increased, but don't know how much. Thanks for any advice!

Yes. i called them before.  Very poor service.  Felt rushed and never gotten a clear answer.  Call them around 9AM or 9:30AM when they open for business.

I renewed for my dad's passport last year and it's $150.00 in Washington, DC location. You email them and ask for correct fee dcconsular@gmail.com. They will reply you in couple of days.

It's sad to say this "If fee and documentations are clear. That is no longer Vietnam". But it's still true up to now. :(

We went here. Renewing was a lot less paperwork.

This was surprisingly fast and seamless even with a US/VN holiday in there...good turnaround ~1 wk

Fee is alarmingly unclear but managed to call and get a hold of someone. was $170 for us.

Thanks for help everyone.

We did US Priority w/ Signature and just got the money order directly via the USPS too.

The fee is $170 now.

If you want to get it done and pick it up right away, the fee is $220.

I just get it done yesterday for emergency. I walked to the Vietnamese embassy in DC and told them that I want to get it done and pickup right away. The fee is $220 for expedited service, otherwise it's $170 for 3-5 days.

The official fee is $70. That's what the Vietnamese government charges. The reason they don't post the fees online is so that they can get more of the "coffee money". I have been in the US a very long time, and I have renewed my Vietnamese passport 3-4 times. Every time I called, they always said a different price, depending on who you talked to. Sometimes, it's $110, sometimes it's $150.

What I have done the last time (and my brother in law did the same recently) is that I sent in the money order for $70, with a $20 bill cash with a sticky note that say "for your breakfast money, appreciate your help".
