Change my wife's middle name on AOS

We got married last month in King County in Seattle, Washington state. I'm going to apply AOS and EAD for my wife but I'm wonder if I can change her middle name. Please give me some advice. Thank you and have a good day.

Change her middle name? I don't think you can do a legal name change with adjustment of status. You can use her new married name however.

What? Seriously?

Via Marriage, by means of when you got married. That was the prime opportunity to change ones name...via marriage. The marriage license application should have had it on there...etc...as the 1000s of the threads here.

Maybe u can just get ur marriage anulled and get remarried with the correct name this time.

Which its actually a lot easier to just get married first depending on how long you want to wait to get married and then go to the SSA office just once.

The only way to change name now would be via courts...etc

she believes Chinese style that if her last name change, her destiny will be change, so she's going to change one of her name and she chooses to change her middle name so it can keep her number destiny. I don't know too much about that. I just want to ask anybody's here if anyone knows how to change her middle name. If it's impossible, we are going to keep her middle name the same. It's fine. Thank you for your answer. Today we went to SSN office to change her married name so we can fill out AOS. They said that she will get her SSN card after 4 weeks. Anyway, Thank you so much. Have a good day.

So confused, changing it FOR AoS or just before so you can start using it??

The SSA office can't really change your name. They would only correct it from what it has already 'changed' to????

We kept it simple. We got married, but she kept her Vietnam name for ALL documents I-129 and AOS and SSN. Not necessary to change her name to yours, just because you got married. Do all of that later. No need to be confusing people, going to court, etc. A married woman can keep her name, and many VN women do. Again, we kept her name the same throughout the process and will continue to do so until we feel it won't cause confusion. Good luck, Paul!

American way of writing a name is retaining the middle name regardless of being married. Only the last name will change
