Change of Status Amount and K2

I sent in the I-485 for my wife and step son. Finally called when I had no NOA, and was told the amount on the check was incorrect so they sent back. If I read correctly, the filing fees are:

Filing Fee: $985

Biometrics $ 85

Step Son $635

Employment Authorization: Free

For a total of $1,705.

Is this correct?

After rereading my app, and the directions, it looks like I have to file a separate I-485 for my step son which I did not do. Does this mean I need to write two separate checks as well?

Still have not received my package so hoping that clarifies things.

Thanks,

Kevin

hi

you have to file 2 separate petitions, one for your wife and one for your stepson,

so all the forms and documents are double, you can send the fee in one check or money order for your wife, total $1070

Yes, file an I-485, I-765 and I-131 for the K-1 spouse, and file an I-485, I-765 and I-131 separately for the K-2 child. The fees for the I-765 and I-131 are waived when filed with a pending I-485.

The fee for the K-1 spouse for all 3 forms is $1070. The I-864 you have to include for the K-1 spouse will also list and include the K-2 child, so no need for a separate I-864 for the child. Just include a copy of the I-864 with the K-2's forms and supporting documents.

If the child is under 14, then the fee for them is $635. If they are 14 or older, then their fee is also $1070 for all 3 forms.

Thanks! Fully done except I can't figure out what the Alien Registration number is for my step son. My wife's is on the NOA, but I don't see his on any of them. There is a number on his visa in red that starts with L? Is that the number to use for him?

You will find out the K-2 child's A# after you have filed for AOS for them. Just leave theirs blank.
