Interview at embassy / financial supporting evidence?

Hello,

My husband is american, we married in France 10 years ago, have 3 kids - and been living in France ever since.

My husband had a job opportunity in the US,so we decided to move there.

We started the process in september 2015, we now have our interview at the Paris US Embassy planned for June 15th.

The document states we should bring I-864 as well as "supporting evidence proving that you and members of your family who immigrate to the U.S. are not likely to become public charges in the United States."

And in the letter they also mention : "Bring updated Federal income tax information to the interview".

Taking into account that my husband hasn't worked in the US over the last 10 years (and hasn't paid taxes, even though he has filed the declarations)

=> what kind of evidence should we bring?

A letter of employment? Bank statements with the total amount of our financial assets?

You're going to need to prove you can support yourself with assets. It's 3 times the poverty line for a spouse. Not sure how it works for kids. The poverty line for a family of 5 is $35,550

You should definitely research this to make sure you have enough assets to meet the guideline. If not, get a cosponsor in the US.

We are not worried in terms of wether we fit the financial requirement = my husband salary will cover what is requested + we have personal assets as well.

The question is more : how do we prove it / what kind of evidence do we need to show, knowing that my husband doesn't have US pay slips yet?

Is a letter of employment from his employer mentioning the salary enough?

Do we have to bring bank statements showing our financial assets? Something else?

Again, I'm not exactly the expert on this, but I'm in a similar boat, so I've researched it some. Your husband's current job in France will not continue after immigration, so his current salary does not count at all towards the AOS. The job offer letter can play a role in providing a full financial picture, but i don't think it can be used to meet the legal requirement, so you might have to rely on assets alone.

You should bring in bank statements showing your assets, stocks, bonds, etc.

I'm not sure how you're planning on timing it, but you may need to create a new AOS for your interview if your husband starts the job ahead of you in the US. I'm in a very similar boat, so it's a bit annoying and chicken/egg. I have enough assets to meet the test, but I've read that Montreal often wants continuing salary in addition to assets.
