Appointment scheduled in CD Juarez

Hi All,

I am new to all this forum stuff, I don't event know what threads to look at :crying: .

So here I go, My husband has his appointment June 22nd 2016 ( 1 day after his birthday! Hoping for an awesome YES as a birthday gift) we just have no clue what to expect.

We are not staying in a hotel as we have a friends house we are staying in. I'm just looking for any and all advise any one could give.

- should we rent a car to get around

- should i go with him to his appointment (I know i cant go in with him, should i wait outside?)

- is it safe

- how long does it take to get his docs once approved via dhl?

December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!

April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)

May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

The rental car will all depend on how far away from the consulate area you will be. Take a look at google maps and figure out the distance between your friend's house and the consulate. That will tell you if you need the rental car or not. Most people stay at a hotel near the consulate so there's no need for car rental.

If you're going to be in Juarez, might as well go with him to the consulate and wait outside for him :)

It's totally safe, at least the consulate area that I know. As always, every place has it's good and bad parts sooo again, that will depend on where you are staying.

The visa, if delivered via DHL there to an office in Juarez, could be ready in as few as a couple days. That's not a for sure though because if they do A/P on the case it could take a bit longer. Since you're staying at a friend's house this probably isn't a problem for ya :)

1/27/17: AOS Interview :star: - APPROVED!! :dance:  [Day 129 / 120 w/ 9day RFIE delay]

1/27/17: AOS Case status update - Approved | 1/31/17: New Card in Production | 2/1/17: Card Was Mailed

2/4/17: Green Cards Arrived :thumbs:

8/28/20: Case Status Update - RFE [Day 582 ~ 19 mos. 4 days] | 11/20/20: Case Status Update - RFE response recv'd [Day 666 ~ 21 mos. 27 days]
