Hi Everyone!

I was married for 6yrs 7 months to the man I petitioned for from my home country---after getting his greencard, he decided to go and wor for his country---I left the states for two years plus but while with him, I learned that he was not what I was expecting him to be (homosexual, high level of occultism and so forth) I couldn't stand the mistreatments and decided to file for divorce in his home country and my divorce was granted with legal documents to proved. Properties acquired was shared 50%.

While I was going through my hard times, I met a God-fearing man who is in love with me and wants to marry me.

So, can I petition for my new man once I am marry to him?

Will immgration sees it as suspicious?

I would suggest considering a K-1 fiance(e) visa if you are not married yet. The main reason for that is the time difference in approval for a fiance(e) visa vs a spouse visa (6 Mo to 1 Yr). Also, my understanding of a spouse visa requires you to be already married before you can start the petition process.

As to suspicion of the situation, you have proof of divorce of your previous relationship. You should have no problems with the process.

You can petition.

Regardless of whichever route you go (fiancé or spousal), prior relationships are considered fair game for CO's to ask about when interviewing a visa applicant so the man you are petitioning for this time may be asked about why your prior marriage did not work out.

April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Are they from the same country? Does your ex now reside in his home country or the US?

How long has it been since your divorce?

How long have you been dating the "new guy'?

Your relationship will probably receive a little or a lot more scrutiny, depending on the circumstances. But, as long as everything is bona fide, and you can prove it, it'll probably work out.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

12/30/16: Notice of interview scheduled (day 109)

To everyone that replied to my post, thanx a billion.

Yes! They're from the same country. My ex is residing in his country because of a good paying job. This new guy is also from the same country. Was separated from my ex since last year September 2015 and divorce was finalized in February of 2016
