Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is no stranger to golf. The real estate mogul has a portfolio of world-class courses around the globe and is a solid player in his own right, once boasting a plus-2 handicap.

But his playing performance is not without question. Multiple people -- including Samuel L. Jackson, Alice Cooper and Rick Reilly -- have claimed the Donald doesn't always play by the rules. Boxing great Oscar De La Hoya joined the crowd of accusers this week.

"Yes, I caught him [cheating]," De La Hoya told the Associated Press. "It was unbelievable. But I guess it was his course, so it was his rules."

According to De La Hoya, Trump didn't count shots that went into the water, and would routinely move his ball into the fairway.

"It shows something about his character," De La Hoya said. "Golf is a gentleman's sport. You don't lie about your score, you don't lie about moving your ball. It goes to show what we're dealing with."

On Thursday, Trump fired back, saying he has too much integrity to cheat at golf, and that De La Hoya is dragging his name into this discussion to promote a boxing fight.

The presidential candidate said his son wanted him to ignore De La Hoya, but because golf is a game of character, Trump felt the need to respond.
