Disability benefits?

You guys are such an amazing resource, I thought I would run this one past you!

My boyfriend and I are looking at having him move to the US from France under the K-1 Visa. He is unable to work due to a disability. He is 27 years old. He is in the process of applying for disability in France. If he begins receiving disability in France, will it transfer over to the United States? I have read a little bit about benefits, And I've seen where the United States has certain agreements with countries, France included, where it seems like certain benefits would transfer over. It seems very confusing, so I thought I would ask the experts! Any information you could provide would be great. Thanks so much!

I can not think of anything that would transfer. He would of course have a US Sponsor.

Best bet would be for him to find out of he can still continue to collect if he is no longer living in France.

As his US sponsor, it is your responsibility that he does not become a public charge in the US. He is not entitled to disability benefits from the US.

Your are correct that certain disability benefits will carry over to a reciprocal country, however your fiancé would have to have a sever disability such as one needing a full time carer and a complete inability to work. Also not the full disability allowance would be received.
