My ex-husband (then fiancé) was granted a K-1 Visa at the Ciudad Juarez Consulate in Mexico in 2004. We married, filed for AOS and then divorced within a year. That was 12 years ago. No marriages or visa applications since then. Now I have filed a K-1 for my new fiancé in Lebanon. Will my old K-1 petition for my ex-husband follow us to our upcoming interview in Beirut? And if so, will he be asked about it?

Your fiance may be asked about it. Just make sure he knows the whole story but for you I don't believe it will be a problem.

Thank you so much for the advice. I appreciate your response. The subject is something I prefer not to dwell on with my fiancé, but he does know about it. I was just wondering if my prior "file" will travel from one embassy to another.

Thanks again and good luck to you in your journey as well.

Yes the embassy will know about it, it's in your permanent file.

Thank you for the information. I was pretty sure that my prior K-1 petition would be on record; I just wanted to be sure. I disclosed it in the I-129F application this time around, as it asked specifically if I had ever filed one before. I am just wondering how much the Lebanese Embassy will know about the details and outcome of that prior K-1. I ask because my ex-husband ended up in a lot of legal trouble here in the U.S. and ended up being deported on three seperate occasions (after we were divorced). I am worried that they will ask my fiancé questions about my ex-husband which could end up casting a negative light on our present petition.

Thank you again for taking the time to help me out with my questions.

Your ex's actions after you divorce should not reflect on the current petition, unless you were involved in some way, and the marriage was long enough ago that it should not be a major red flag for the current petition.

However, as mentioned, your current fiance will likely be asked about the ex, his name, why you divorced etc, so be sure he knows all that.

Thank you Ms. Penguin_ie; I appreciate your contribution to this post. Your advice is always sound and wise - so I will take note of what you said and make sure my fiancé is prepared to answer those questions at the interview.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and opinion with me. (F)
