The I-485 asks for the nonimmigrant visa number. Is this the "control number" or the red number in the bottom right?

I wondered about the same thing but then put down the red number....but no guarantees :D

AOS timeline:

03/17/06 filed for AOS

03/28-06 touched

04/04/06 biometrics

04/05/06 touched

05/23/06 transfered to CSC

06/17/06 touched

08/16/06 touched

11/20/06 USCIS cust.service started inquiry about case (because it's outside of processing times)

11/30/06 approval e-mail

12/07/06 Greencard in the mail (= 8 months and 21 days for the entire AOS process)

It is a control number. We asked on USCIS infoline and they told us to put control number. I looked for it in many sources - noone knew. I got the same info on different forum.

And that's the numer I put.

06 December 2005 - entered US on tourist visa

08 February 2006 - got married

06 March 2006 - 15 March 2006 - medical exam done

15 March 2006 - I-485 package sent to Chicago Lockbox

21 March 2006 - USCIS received papers

24 March 2006 - notice date for I-130,I-485,I-765 (28 March 2006 - received NOA for I-130,I-485,I-765)

01 April 2006 - I-130, I-485, I-765 touched

06 April 2006 - Notice date for biometrics appointment (received on 13 April 2006)

29 April 2006 - Biometrics done

06 May 2006 - I-765, I-145 touched

08 May 2006 - I-765, I-130 touched

03 June 2006 - I-765 touched

06 June 2006 - Interview letter arrived

07 June 2006 - e-mail received: EAD approved !!!

09 June 2006 - EAD card received in mail

12 June 2006 - applied for SSN

26 June 2006 - SSN arrived

25 July 2006 - Interview

APPROVED!!!

31 July 2006 - Welcome Notice arrived

It is a control number. We asked on USCIS infoline and they told us to put control number. I looked for it in many sources - noone knew. I got the same info on different forum.

And that's the numer I put.

Really??? We are supposed to put the control number down...??

Oh, well...I put the red number down.....I guess they'll just have to look at the copy of my visa and read it themselves....let's hope that they are smart enough to realize that :D

18 July 2005 - NOA 1: I-485, I-131, I-765 received!

Yes - that's truth, I noticed that, and now I am starting to wonder if we were told correctly, but we asked so many people and agencies and noone knew until this one infoline representative who told us with confidence it is control numer - so we trusted him :)

And by the way - maybe fiancee visa looks different than tourist visa - I am talking about tourist visa.
