GC interview: no decision and status updates

Hello all,

We had our GC interview on April 20, 2016. We were separated immediately for the interview. 30 minutes of questions for me and the same for my husband. Pretty difficult, more than what I thought. Anyway, I will write a review here when I have more time.

I'm just a little bit confused right now and I hope someone already went through this and can tell me what is going on. The officer didn't approve us on spot, as I read it happens a lot to people. She just said: "if we are approved we will receive the green card in 2-4 weeks, if we need more evidence which is unlikely, we will contact you, if you are denied you will receive a letter". Something like that.

One hour after the interview, we checked the status on the USCIS website and Form I-485 was saying :Your new card is being produced. We will mail it to your address.

After a few hours, we checked again the status for Form I-485 and it was: You case was approved, you will receive a notice in the mail. This status has not changed since then.

We also checked the status for Form I-130 and it was: You case was approved, you will receive a notice in the mail. This status has not changed since then.

So it went from "new card being produced" to "case approved". That'w why I'm a little confused and I'd like to know what generally happens in this case.

Thank you for your help!

You had a Stokes interview, which I hear is not a pleasant experience. Someone must have decided your evidence of a bona fide marriage was weak. As your status has changed to approved, you passed the interview and you will receive your green card in the mail. Don't expect the 2 to 4 week delivery though, green card production has been way behind lately.

OK thank you!

I don't know, I thought it was very weird as the officer was nice but just asking so many questions! She just said she will then ask my husband the same questions and compare the answers. So yes, that sounds like a stoke interview <_< She didn't ask for any evidence at all, which we prepared and were ready to give during the interview. Plus, our case was nothing very complicated..

Apparently, a lot of couples who were interviewed that day got separated for the interview.

I just hope everything is fine now, but it should be since they changed the status. You say it will take longer than 2-4 weeks to receive the GC?

Strange everyone was being separated. Maybe it was just some type of audit going on.

Yes, people have been reporting much longer than normal periods for getting any type of card from USCIS lately. They've fallen seriously behind in card production.

Maybe that's why my status went from "card being produced" to "case accepted" ... ??

Thanks

Sounds like its all fine, card will come, just give extra time to receive.

If I may ask, if you have time, can you list a few of the questions they asked you? It would be helpful to know.

Thank you.

Sure.

She asked a lot about how is our building, our apartment, when are garbage days, where does our landlord live, who pays the bills and how.

Then also questions about when we met and the years before our engagement.

She also asked me my mother-in-law's maiden name. About the wedding, where, who witnessed and what did we do after the ceremony.

She asked a lot about my husband's past, where did he study, how much does he make, what's his phone number, what's his work schedule.

I hope this helps
