I would like to know if anyone here knows details on police clearance.

My fiance worked in China a bout 3 years ago, she is now living in Philippines raising our 2 year old girl, some of our friends told us that she needs to get police clearance from China since she worked there, other have said that since it has been more than 3 years is not necessary. I am hopping here some can tell us for sure, and in the event it is required, we would like to know where to get it, as the Chinese consulate in Cebu is not longer opened. Thank you in advance for any hep.

I have read somewhere that you need to contact the Chinese Embassy for information. I also read that China requires the person applying for Police Certificate to be present in person, and If a police clearance cannot be obtained by those not physically present in the former work country, the police clearance will not be requested during the consular officer’s interview.

I would for sure try to contact someone at the US Embassy to be clear is this is true or not.

If she lived there for more than 1 year after the age of 16 then she will need one.

It's 6 months for country of current residence and country of nationality. For countries of previous residence, it's 1 year.

It doesn't say what to do if you're currently abroad. Perhaps contact the Philippine embassy in China to see if they'll be able to help.

Always follow the embassy instructions letter as to what is required. As others have noted; 16 yr. and older, residing 6 mos or more ... required.

Embassy for china is in Makati http://ph.chineseembassy.org/eng/sgxx/lxfs/

thank you all for all the replies, once I find out for sure I will post my reply here to hopefully help someone in the same position, My fiance is Filipino National but she worked in China (where we met). I will call the US embassy and talk to a supervisor agent (hard to get I know) but I will try to see if they can give me something definite, I read in another forum this was the route to go.

My fiancee has to get police clearance from Hong Kong cause hers is expired. They are only good for a year and hers is 14 months old now. She had to get her fingerprints done on a card and request the clearance from the HK police. With it she had to submit the NOA2 to show them why she needs a new clearance. We have not heard anything back yet cause their website says 90 days to 6 months (Although everyone she knows that did it only took 3 weeks). Even though she has the NOA2 she just chatted with a filipina who was denied a police clearance cause they wanted the next letter. The one from nvc that is rumored to sometimes never even show up.
