My spouse just completed the SLEC medical for IR1 on April 19th and 20th, interview is scheduled 1st week of May. I want to confirm that we have a full 6 months from April 19 to enter the US, which would be Oct 19 according to my calculation. Can someone please confirm that?

Confirm a full 6 months? Not me. We are talking the gubermint here.... ;)

VISA VALIDITY: Generally, an immigrant visa is valid for six months from the date of issuance, unless its validity is limited by medical or other restrictions.

You will know the EXACT date for the expiration of the visa once you receive your passport, it is printed on the visa.

I understand all that but I'm trying to confirm if the visa is good for 6 months from EXACT date of medical. If anyone has first-hand experience and can answer I would appreciate it.

I posted what the embassy states regarding validity in my earlier post... that is "just the facts".

Curious, why does it matter?

Did you wife complete TB testing? That changes the game

6 months from SLEC is generally true as previously stated.

I would recommend giving yourself a 2 week travel buffer for possible unforeseen issues.

From any embassy's general instruction:

VISA VALIDITY: Generally, an immigrant visa is valid for six months from the date of issuance, unless its validity is limited by medical or other restrictions.

From US embassy Phillipines:

Medical examinations are generally valid for 6 months.

Hence visas from US embassy in Phillipines are valid for 6 months from the date of medical completion.
