Hi Everyone,

My fiancee is filing our I-129F this week. Can anyone advise if there is anything I can do at my end in the UK to speed up the medical or police checks? Can I be getting these done done independently rather than waiting until later in the process?

Many Thanks

You can go to your GP office and see what shots you have already had and get any you need. Having shots is not required for a K1 visa, but they are required for your adjustment of status. It will save you money and hassle later in the US if you get them ALL signed off on your visa medical form.

your ACPO police certificate is good for one year, so you can start working on that, however they do come quickly. A police certificate that says "no trace" is clear. If it says "no live trace" you have a hidden conviction the US wants to see. UK cautions are a conviction. Order a Subject Access Report from ACPO if you have "no live trace". That takes longer to get.

Check the London list for documents taken to the interview and start getting them. Read the details like passport must have at least 8 months validity. Birth certificate must have parents' names. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/required-documents/

You really should wait until NOA2 is received. You don't know how long that may take and documents should be fairly recently obtained. Once you get NOA2 you will have time to get police records and other documents ready. You can look ahead at the guides to know what you will need. Then you can research costs and how to obtain them in the UK so you'll be prepared when its time.

You don't want to do the medical too early as your K1 expiration date will hinge on the medical exam date. In Jamaica the medical facility won't even schedule your medical exam until you have an interview appt date anyway.

You can't book an appointment for a UK medical until you have been assigned your new case number (LNDXXXXXXX) by the NVC (after petition approval). You should not have the medical until your file reaches London. You will not be assigned an interview in London until your medical is complete and the embassy has received your results. Each consulate has different procedures. Start reading London specific info and asking questions in the UK Forum http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/

Good luck! My fiancee filed our paperwork in January and we're already at the NVC. From my end as people have stated the paperwork in the UK is all fairly quick and easy to obtain and your NOA2 took i our case 2 and a bit months to come through. Once you get that you can still get the police cert and birth certs etc in plenty of time for the paperwork to reach the embassy.

Good to see another couple in the same area of California and the UK though :)
