So I received the NVC welcome letter (PAOSF) and I'm quite confused about the steps in terms of what step to do next exactly.

A colleague of mine who just helped me with the first 2 steps today did his petition for his own spouse a couple of years ago so there were a few things in my NVC welcome letter that didn't quite ring a bell to him.

In step 1, I chose myself as the agent (which pertains to the Form DS-261).

In step 2, I paid the $120 fee for the Form I-864 Affidavit of support for myself. I'm about to pay my wife's own later on tonight.

After doing step 1 and paying my $120 fee in step 2, I received the "Choice of Address and Agent Confirmation" for myself alone because I haven't yet paid the $120 fee for my wife yet.

So after I pay the $120 fee for that of my wife, what the hell happens next? What should I do or expect at that point?

Because these steps are not all that self explanatory.

Step 1: Submit DS-261 and pay the AOS fee ($120) (you've done this)

Step 2: Wait for the form and payment to be processed (you'll get another letter once it happens with the IV fee invoice; took about a week for me)

Step 3: After the IV fee is unlocked (could be a day after receiving the second letter), pay the IV fee ($325)

Step 4: Wait for the payment to be processed (took about a week and a half for me)

Step 5: After the IV fee is processed, the DS-260 form will be unlocked, fill out and submit the form.

At any point during steps 1 through 5 you can mail in your NVC packet consisting of the document cover sheet (part of the welcome letter) as well as the financial and supporting documents applicable to your case (see the list on the cover sheet). At some point you may get a letter via email telling you that they've received the packet you mailed them.

After the DS-260 i submitted and they receive the packet you mail in, they will, at some point, look over everything, issue a checklist asking you to fix stuff if necessary and complete your case (took about a month for us without a checklist), this is usually indicated by having one of the things (I think it's the AOS fee indicator) switching from paid to N/A (so you have three N/As total in the online system; this is not always an indicator of CC, but it usually is; some people get a letter indicating that their case was complete and that an interview will be scheduled, others don't). Once NVC gets a free interview slot, they'll schedule your interview and email you an interview (P4) letter with the interview date and a list of documents the beneficiary needs to take to the interview (among other things).

P.S. This is for the IR-1/CR-1 process which is where you posted your question, but you also say you have paid the fee for yourself and now you're going to pay the fee for your wife as well which doesn't make much sense in the IR-1/CR-1 process since one of you should be petitioner (USC) and one the beneficiary (immigrant) so there should only be one AOS fee involved between the two of you. :time: so people can help you better.
