221g regarding addition of AKA in NBI clearance

Hi All!

My wife and daughters just got done with their interview, however, the IO gave my wife a 221g regarding an addition of an alias with her married name on it. As to why this is needed, I have no clue. I tried searching this topic and someone did posted something about it around 2014. I was unaware of this new thing. Anyways, I received the email regarding the 221g. What address should they use to send it to? I read the email over and over again and I don't see a return address for the embassy? Also, do i include a copy of the said email with her NBI clearance? Does 2go provide tracking? Thank you for your patience in answering all of my questions. BTW, this is for an F2A visa. God Bless!

Unfortunately this has been a requirement for many years. Wait till you receive the paper 221g and the instructions will be spelled out for you on what is needed and how to reply. This is a not a deal breaker just a bump in the road to your visa.

Did received the 221g email but it doesn't say that where to send it like an address. Should I just have them go to 2GO courier and say that the document needs to be sent to US Embassy. We are from Cebu so excuse me if I don't know the Embassy's address

Did you read the embassy instructions letter? It states very clearly an AKA is needed for ALL names used.

POLICE REPORT: Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance for Travel Abroad Purposes from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name and any aliases or nicknames used, including different spellings you have used of those names. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record” or "No pending case”. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is valid for one (1) year from the date it was issued. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

How to deliver the new NBI - Don't need an address. Print out a copy of the email from the embassy, take that to NBI, request the updated NBI, once that is completed NBI will forward the new NBI to the embassy.

It actually state in the said 221g email to submit required document to the Immigrant Visa Unit via 2GO courier service. However, the address wasn't provided. Also, I wasn't aware that my wife's misspelled name in our marriage certificate should be considered as an alias because it was incorrect to begin with. We did have the said marriage certificate amended through court and they fixed it by writing amendment on the side of the said marriage certificate with her correct name.

Hi sender . I had that issue before and that same day I went back to the embassy and submitted what they asked for . I paid under the table to someone who works in the NBI to get it done in 2 hours . I got my visa 2 weeks later .

You don't have to know someone over there in Manila . I went there by myself and make friends who can help me out . The fixer helped me . I only paid 500 pesos for it to get it done and 125 pesos for printing my AKA's.

It depends if your name has a hit or you have a namesake. If you do, you'll be asked to come back after 4 days or even up to 2 weeks! Mine took 9 days for my AKA- married and maiden names

I'm confused now, on our NBI it has "first name" "maiden/family name" "middle" and "married" name, I'm assuming this is ok?...

Now for the Chinese police certificate they would only issue it to a valid passport name, which was "first" "family" "married" but since she moved her maiden name to her middle name would that also be ok? there is no other way to get it done in china,

Edit: in other words, the NBI has her married and maiden name all together, Did your wife's NBI have this also?

Are they now asking for a separate clearance in each name?

You should be fine with the NBI if both married and single name are listed

Any update on this? Also got 221g because of NBI AKA. I sent the new nbi clearance the same day and USEM got it the following day. CEAC status still at AP but the status updated date changed to april 7 which is 2 days after my interview.

You may see it updated with new dates each and every time someone "touches" your record and the is normal also normal for it to say AP. Soon it will change to ISSUED.
