K1 Visa Annotation - Expiration Date of Petition

I know I'm probably beating a dead horse, but I shouldn't be concern with the May 1st (5/1/16) expiration date of petition date right? I had already booked my trip to and returning on June 10th back in February, anticipating this process to be done before my return flight. When I got the good news, I added my fiancé to my return flight.

Issue Date: 3/25/16

Expire Date: 9/9/16

The consulates automatically extend petition validity in 4-month increments for up to a year, as long as activity is anticipated or pending. Write them to ensure that they'll do this.

Well, I called and spoke to my friend who has a business helping people with green card and k1 visa. He and his specialist said September 9th. I called an attorney and she said the same. Then I called my airport and spoke to the field agent himself, who checks visas and he said May 1. So I'm not taking chances. Changed my flight plans to this month.

That expiration date for the petition is just informational, you are past that moment in time. You can ignore it.

The expiration date for the VISA is what is important now, the September date is the "drop dead" date to clear POE.
