I finally came to Hong Kong to meet my love and we got engaged a couple days ago.

Today I got news my Grandfather is very ill and he very likely won't be alive by the time a k1 is approved.

I really want them to meet in person and they want to meet eachother, what would be my best hope to make that happen soonest? Should we wait a month(s) to fill out k1 petition and just focus on a b2 right now?

For what it's worth fiancée isn't in school or working right now and lives with her parents. She will have a job, and does have plane tickets to vacation in Japan this June, so she would have to be back in Hong Kong for that.

No job and living with parents doesn't exactly seems like good ties to home country. You can't do anything for her with her B2 visa she has to show ties to her home country be herself plane tickets to Japan won't do anything.

From what i read a denied b2 will not negatively effect a k1. So I suppose we will start the k1 and b2 as soon as possible and hope for the best.

Thank you both.

No it will not effect the K-1. But if you apply at the same time they will see in the system that she also has a K-1 going on that will make it even worse with the ties to her home country. So start with the B2 if you like and then when denied you can do the K-1.

The K-1 is pretty fast right now though. Just make sure to have her sign her papers before you leave so you already have that and don't need her to mail stuff to you.
