N400. We didn't do income taxes recently. Explanation needed

Timeline

Hello. We are doing my wife's N400 and on page 13, Part 11, Question 7.A it asks, "Have you ever not filed a Federal, State, or local ta return since you became a Permanent Resident." If you check Yes, it asks for a written explanation with supporting proofs.

There were two years where I was a full time student and my wife was a housewife so we didn't have any income those years so we didn't do taxes those years.

Do you guys envision this being a problem? Would I simply just state that we didn't have any income so we didn't file a tax return?

A simple letter stating you earned below the threshold requiring you to file should take care of it.

Day 0 (1/3/18) N-400 filed online

Day 6 (1/9/18) Walk-in biometrics in Fort Worth, TX

Day 341 (12/10/18) Interview was scheduled for 1/14/19

Day 376 (1/14/19) Interview

Day 385 (1/23/19) Denied

Day 400 (2/7/19) Denial revoked; N-400 approved; oath ceremony set for 2/14/19

Day 407 (2/14/19) Oath ceremony in Dallas, TX

02/07/2013: AOS Package Mailed via FEDEX to Chicago Lockbox (I-485, I-130)
02/11/2013: AOS Package Received
02/14/2013: NOA
02/16/2013: Letters of NOA for I-485, I-765 and I-130 with receipt No. Received.
02/22/2013: Biometrics Appt. Notice Received.
28/02/2013: Biometrics DONE!!! ( early walk in)

03/24/2013:Received appointment notice for interview

04/24/2013:Interview-- got RFE for the medical exam

04/29/2013: Submitted the RFE
04/29/2013: I-485 Case Status updated to "card production" then "decision"

05/06/2013: Green Card in hand ..... :)
