Last paycheck still missing.

So, Craig's last paycheck is still missing. He was on direct deposit for the length of his employment, and we were never told he was going to be mailed a check, however, the did it anyways. So pay day comes, and we call, and they say they've mailed the check. Now that was three weeks ago. I've never seen anything, much less a single envelope, take more that 10 days to get from Ontario to Indiana. Of course, we'll wait a little bit longer, but what are the Provincial/Canadian laws regarding last pay checks? I know down here, just as long as you give 72 hours notice, it is required that you are paid on the next scheduled pay day, is there anything like that up there?

Did they send it regular mail or registered? Because if for some reason it was registered it takes longer to get it across the border usually.

Hmmm, we don't know. The woman is being ridiculously short with us. Guh! It's a real hiccup in the budget when you expect $800 is going to be there on one day, and it still hasn't showed up 3 weeks later!

If you don't receive it soon, I would ask his employer to put a "stop payment" on the check, and either re-issue a new check or do a direct deposit into his account.

She should have no reason to be short with you. . . it is his money afterall. I agree with raymaga that if you don't receive it soon, especially regular post, then you should be sent another cheque. Good luck and have fun this weekend!

My last paychecks were mailed as well - and even though I had changed the address with the payroll office - they were mailed to my Ontario address. I had to wait for my mail forward to forward them - and then Canada Post screwed up - and they were not putting the forward notice on my mail but leaving it in my old mailbox. A kind next door neighbour noticed the bulging mail box, packaged it up for me and mailed it down to me - she had to do that 3 times before I received the first batch and called Canada Post, then faxed them my receipt showing they were supposed to forward my mail - so I didn't receive my paycheques due to two errors until a month after they had been issued. (They did refund me a percentage of the fee equal to the number of weeks they failed to forward the mail). Find out where they mailed the check and then double check that Canada Post is indeed forwarding the mail as directed. Good luck and I hope it arrives soon.

^^ This is why I signed up to forward my mail to my sister's place here because I don't trust Canada Post to forward outside of the country. They're bad enough within Canada, let alone sending something across the border! I signed up online and got a thing in the mail already confirming that I was in the system for it to start on a certain date.

I had my mail forwarded from Canada to the USA and it seemed to work, as I got piles of it. Forget how much it cost, but was worth it as the my last cheque from the military was sent there!!

I am finding it takes forever for mail to reach the usa from canada. Mail from mom (nothern ontario) takes 2 weeks or more, my fiend sent me a letter package 2 weeks ago from Toronto, still isnt here. #######

I have to say the USA has a great Postal Service System...was impressed they deliver mail saturdays of all things! also...I am amazed that people have the old fashion style mail boxes at the end of the drive way in the rural areas! I told my husband that will soon be changed to a "locked box" when I move at the end of the month! no wonder Identity crisis is alive and well in the USA! I think they should take lessons from Canada and get the

"super mail box" style. When my husband first came to Canada to visit me he had ask what they were???? LOL
