14 months, and still waiting for adjustment of status marriage(I-485)

Hello Everyone,

My wife came with K-1 visa more than a a year ago, we married during the 90 days frame, and we applied for the I-485 or adjustment of status before the 90 days expired. Somewhere around October last year we got an RFE, we replied withe the documents requested, but we never got any more letters or RFE, etc.

I called USCIS at the beginning of this month, but I have called many times before, anyway the person who took the call right away said, "Oh, this is out of the normal processing time, I am going to create a request for an update." So she gave us a reference number. Today I called again, the person who answered the call said a letter has been sent to you, it should arrived this week, that is it. No more details. The USCIS web site says they are still working on the case.

Wow! How long does it take this process? Is anybody out there in the same situation? Our case is about 14 months now.

We are waiting for the letter to see what it says, but we are considering hiring a lawyer.

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

I personally would wait for the letter to see what it says, then follow up with an info pass appointment if the letter doesn't provide you the answer you need.

Yes, Umka36, that is more or less where we are now, waiting for that letter. I hope to get it tomorrow, if nothing is on that letter, then follow up with an appointment as you suggested. Thank you for replying.
