How to I find out if consulate received case file??

I received a letter from the NVC dated 02/12 that my case file would be forwarded to Guangzhou within a week and they gave me a case ID no. GUZ**********. I call the NVC to get information on when it was sent and if they received it, but I can't talk to a human there. My case isn't even in the automated system there and every time I press "5" to be connected to a representative, I get kicked back to the automated system. I called the consulate in Guangzhou, but they state they haven't received it yet. It should have been received weeks ago. Has anyone been through this and how did they get the information on when the file was recieved and sent by the NVC and whether the consulate has received it or not?

They should have received your case by now! NVC is VERY hard to get through to by phone. They work 7:30 AM - 12 midnight EST. Call them right when they open or right before they close (within 15-30 min after opening/before closing), those are the ONLY times I was successful in getting through. And you HAVE to speak to a rep, K1 cases are NOT in the automatic system.

I also suggest sending the same email every day till they answer, give your name, case number, beneficiary's name & date of birth to NVCINQUIRY@state.gov.

Just keep trying, takes a while to get thru. Later in the evening seemed to work for me and also the email. You can also email the embassy in a given amout of time, mine told me when they rec'd the application and also when they sent the packet out to him.

Thanks for the tips. I finally got a hold of them at 8:00 AM EDT (yawn). They gave me good news and bad news. The case file was sent out Feb. 12 so my fiance is likely to get her packet 3 quicker. The bad news is they said they don't track the case files when they are sent. (how did everyone else get this info??) Guangzhou is one of the slowest consulates on the planet, so my fiance will likely wait 3 months before she gets her packet 3. They won't tell me if they have it until just before they send out the packet 3. Today they told me they didn't have it yet. Also I have no way to determine if the case file got lost in the system, so there is nothing to do but wait and hope they don't screw up. If anyone has any other ideas to see if the consulate received the case file, please let me know.

I read that you can track the file sent from NVC through DHL. However, your file may have arrived but may be sitting at the consulate there. If they have not entered your application on the system, then they won't know they received it. Some consulates are known to have done so. You can keep emailing them with the case number until they give you an update.
