Hey. I am new to visajourney. Had a few questions in my mind, but before i ask any questions am gonna explain my case. I got married to my girl who is a US citizen on 6th jan 2016 in India. She came to india with her parents on 31st december 2016. We fell in love with each other in the year 2008 when she was in india. Now here are my few doubts on this CR-1 visa. Though she sent I-130 to chicago mail box today with all the documents. I wanna know if we have done all right.

1. We both filled the G 325a form and me as benificiary filled all the sections which asks for applicants current employer and applicants present address. Have i done right?

2. She did not change her last name yet. In the marraige certificate it says before marraige her maiden name is her family name and after marraige is her last name is my family name. But she filled all forms with her maiden name. Will this affect our petition?

3.we have attached chat records, marraige pictures, family pictures. Will this be accepted as bonafide of relationship? We do not have any joint account or properties.

4.how much time does it usually take for the whole process? She lives in baltimore so sent the forms to chicago lock box.

5. Did we go wrong somewhere in the focuments?

So these are my questions. Please advise us what to do next

Welcome!

1. If you have completed and signed one G-325A each, you've done the right thing.

2. She doesn't have to change her last name. It's an option open to her but there is no legal requirement to do so.

3. Yes, chat records and photos are good. It's quite normal that people who don't yet live together don't have joint finances.

4. About a year.

5. Who knows? We can't see everything you sent and we aren't the the ones making the decision. Time will tell. They will contact you if you forgot anything or if they need more evidence.

Also in the USA it's common for a marriage certificate to have a woman's maiden name because that is who she was when she got married. She then uses that certificate to change her legal documents if she chooses. So she likely would have filled out your Indian marriage license etc in the same manner she would here.
