Hello dear friends. I have a question about income requirement. I am filling out I-864, I am wondering if I would need a joint sponsor or not. This is my situation: so based on my income from last year 2015 I made little to no money about 4k( I didn't fill out 2015 tax return yet) my total income for 2014 tax returns is 200 bucks short of the required amount to qualify as a so a sponsor. I make and anticipate to make enough money for 2016 ) current income) I anticipate to make over 20k I have an employment letter and last paycheck to prove that. So I am wondering would I need a joint sponsor since I didn't make enough money last year or can I just use my current employment as proof that I can sponsor my wife . I would really appreciate if Any one can shed some light for me on this. I really hope to not need a joint sponsor . I just got this job last month and only have one pay stub it's monthly salary and as well employment letter would that be enough?

Thank you

Yes. Current and most recent taxes filed should meet the guidelines. So line up a joint sponsor. Because your employment is new and I know they like to see a good 6 months of pay stubs. Sorry

Now you could try and more than likely NVC will accept your paperwork and say nothing or suggest a Joint Sponsor. But they don;t approve of anything the CO does and it's up to them to approve or require you to get a joint sponsor.

Thanks dwheels76 for the reply I appreciate it's just been hard for me to get a joint sponsor so I might just take a chance of sending what I have and pray that I don't get an RFE the thought of it freaks me out . any body else had similar situation. I hear nvc May ask for more information at the consulate I wouldn't mind I am sure I will get a joint sponsor by interview date and I will have accumulated more pay stubs but I just don't want anything delaying my case any more its been a dreadful journey of waiting

For NVC they will just see your 2016 salary and that you meet it. They may put in the Interview letter that you may need a joint sponsor but the decision will be up to the CO's . But they won't hold up anything. So go ahead and send in your AOS and IV together and then it's 30 to 45 day wait for Case Complete than waiting for Interview can take 2 months usually to get it. So you have probably at best 4 months before interview or getting one. :goofy:

Who are the COs if you don't mind me asking . I sure hope they don't hold up anything for me

CO=Consular Officer. The one who will interview you. The one that approves or denies you a Visa. All NVC does is collect our documents make sure they are correctly filled out and in order. Nothing more They do not approve or deny anything.
