Hello to the wonderful people of VJ,

Here's my dilemma. My divorce was finalized almost a year ago, in March 2015, and my green card doesn't expire until May of this year. I dated my ex-wife for several years, and after marriage our relationship fell apart. We stayed together about 7 months, and then separated. Even during separation we still talked about reconciling, but we just had too many issues that couldn't be resolved. At the time of the divorce, I was heart-broken and I wasn't thinking about filing the divorce waiver. I thought that maybe we would get back together, but that was wishful thinking. I am about to send in my divorce waiver application now, but will it look bad that I waited almost a year to file?

The evidence I have is:

- one year joint taxes

- life insurance beneficiary

- joint checking/savings account that span throughout our separation period

- lots of pictures

- lease

Is that enough? For the bank accounts, is it okay to use the statements from when we were separated?

But, you didn't wait a year to file. You file ROC, with or without a divorce waiver, when its time. You don't file it early if you get divorced. I also think you should focus on getting more evidence to prove bonafide. Do you have evidence from when you dated?
