Scheduling K-1 Interview in Kiev

As directed on this site, I intend to start calling NVC for my case number 10 days after NVC which will be any day now. Two questions:

First, am I able to schedule the interview through that ustraveldocs website (or whatever it is) as soon as I get that number from NVC ? ( I know there are other steps, such as police certificate and DS-160, but those aside... ) Is it the 'Ready' status of the case that matters ? Is the interview only able to be scheduled after the file has reached the Kiev embassy and processed there in some way ?

Second, for those who have been scheduling their interviews recently at the embassy in Kiev, how quickly can the interview take place ? Is it a 3 week backlog ? 5 weeks ? My fiancee has already requested the police certificate, the DS-160 will not take long, and there really is nothing requiring any kind of delay. Logistically, what is the shortest delay between scheduling the interview and the date of the interview ? Of course, let's assume the medical is done before the interview, as required.

Third, which I only now thought of, is there a backlog or delay for scheduling the medical ? Obviously, this effects the interview, thus the question

1) In theory yes. In practice - I would suggest to wait until your cases gets to Ukraine (as they do their on background checks within embassy too)

2) in November - the wait for K1 was exactly 2 weeks. I would assume it is +/- the same now.

3) Yes, you need to schedule medical. Again - in November backlog was also exactly 2 weeks. For medical - you do not have to wait for the case to get to Kyiv, you can schedule it as soon as you want. (need to call the clinic itself, they have no website)

Once the status says ready, it means the embassy received it, so you can schedule the interview then. It's not like you'll schedule it for the next day - a week or 2 later is fine, they should be ready for you by then. As soon as you know when your interview can be, call clinic to schedule medical the day before.

Thanks. I have actually been thinking about having the medical done a bit earlier in case some followup is required. I don't want to have to reschedule the interview, since I am planning to travel for the interview and stay until I bring her home. I plan to book the airline tickets ahead of time, so I am trying to avoid any delays with the interview. I know I'm taking a risk, but I gotta do what I gotta do

I believe that part of the scheduling process you need to have the visa fees paid. You will have to enter a receipt from the bank. After about 24 to 48 hours later the scheduling part of the website should open up. Allow time for embassy stuff to happen and get police report, etc etc.. then book the interview and medical.

It can be perilous to presume the granting of the visa, as many of us have learned to our chagrin. Do what you have to do, but be mentally prepared, just in case.

Haha. Yeah. I know. I'm gambling and I know it. We both want her here ASAP, and I want to be there for the interview. So, I either book flights for both ahead of time and gamble, or just buy one-ways as I go, which is more expensive. Thus, the gamble

two notes of thought...

When you are filling out the DS160 there is a section for visa delivery. You can choose the option to pickup the passport/visa for the courier office in Kyiv or the consulate (i cant remember which). That could save a day or two while waiting for delivery if your girl is remote from Kyiv.

It is also normal for your case to go into AP (Administrative processing). Please don't freak out and loose your mind. This is normal after the interview. The CEAC will update again once the visa/passport is in delivery.

for now my advice is... "hurry up and wait" "don't worry, be happy" ...and "a watched pot does not boil.."

Who knows when and where I need to pay for the medical and interview? Some people are saying in bank, another - to the embassy. I'm confused

and also, do I need to take a NOA2 hardcopy with all those papers to the interview?

Interview -- you pay at the bank! (See embassy website for details), You need to pay before you schedule the interview.

Copy of NOA2 - yes you need a copy (not original)

Medical - you pay at the clinic; NOA2 - not needed, but you do need the 'A-number' that is listed on NOA2, and the case number.

I've already asked fiance to send me noa2, but it's not a big deal i think. Also want to ask what time did u receive a letter from embassy? I suppose in a week after case in here!? Can i make an appointment for an interview without it? Or need to wait?

We received email first (about 2-3 days after the case got to the embassy), and then the same information in a letter (about 2-3 weeks after case was received by embassy).
