I have questions related to my wife receiving her visas to come here in USA to NC. We looked at going to an agency in the Philippines . I was told the process fees to complete the visas would cost 1,200 . But i was also informed by someone else that , that is the cost and coverage for the plane ticket only .... Then we have to pay for embassy fees . We are already married and was married there. I would like to know if what I have been told is true and what is the total amount of the cost that I should expect to pay for the entire process with the agency and embassy fees ..... please help ASAP with all information to help us .I AM IN GREENSBORO NC.

Are you still in Greensboro, where in the Pinas is your wife from? My asawa are going to move back to the area this year, and she needs some Pinay friends. I know they have a new Filipino store off of High Point Rd.

Honestly you don't need to use an agency or anything like that. I did for my wife's K1 visa only because I was in Afghanistan at the time. If I wasn't then I would have done it myself and kept the $1k. Where is your wife from in the Philippines? This matters alot because some of the stuff can only be done in Manila or Cebu, but the embassy is in Manila. Another thing you have to see is if that $1,200 includes the K1 visa fee, because more than likely it doesn't. If it does then I would steer clear of it, because it might be fake or the lowest bidder. Just like I said above I spent $1k on the attorney and he was pretty good, I had another attorney quote me $3k for the same services.

There is no attorney that will cover the plane ticket, you have to cover that. You will have file for a CR1/IR1 visa the time frame of that right now is about 1 year. I am providing a link in here to help you out with this. Where is your asawa from, and which part of Greensboro are you in?

My wife is from TANAY in RIZAL PROVINCE . Yes i am here in GREENSBORO NC. MY WIFE ALSO HAS A FACEBOOK PAGE , BUT SHE MOSTLY USES FACEBOOK MESSENGER . HER NAME IS JEAN FLACK

I'm assuming since she is your wife your filing I-130 for IR-1 visa?

To better serve you when answering your question(s) can you complete your VJ Profile. To do so go to the upper right hand corner, select your name and under your name chose "my profile". Next under your picture you choose "Edit my Profile". Under profile settings scroll to the bottom of the page and you see two areas (Profile Information and Immigration Information) that accommodates vital additional information to help others in their reply to your question(s). Without it, the replier may just move on and not give you the answer because they have to "work" to get that needed information. The answer is sometimes predicated on that additional information. Their time is valuable.

Thank you and good luck on your journey.

Here is a great website that will walk you through step by step for your process. You can do this yourself. You don't need a lawyer but you do need to follow the steps.

Hi.. I am a Filipina in Greensboro but in High Point now. I happened to stumble by this post. I came here on a K1 fiance so I am not really sure how much it costs for the spouse visa. I guess the fiance is a much expensive way of coming over since we had to pay about $1000 in total and now for the adjustment of status is another grand.. but my husband was too impatient and wanted me to be here the soonest. The plane ticket for me was about $1600 in Dec. 2014 but he bought it for me around a month before that when everything was good with the CFO(commission on Filipinos overseas) which your wife will be taking as the last step.

Try as much as possible not to use any agency in the philippines if I were you.

Btw, it would be nice to meet you and your wife sometime. There's a number of Filipinos in the Triad that I met in a year and a half that I've been here. Hope things work out well for y'all.

My asawa and I are moving to Greensboro next month. It has been a long process but just have finally found a job back in my area of NC. So we are moving back to NC. Where in the Philippines are you from?

Are you originally from NC? Was California rough for you guys as in you really didn't like it? I lived in Cali for 4 years and really didn't like the traffic. It was hard getting around and very time consuming. Otherwise, loved the area (OC). Was in SF for a while but too expensive.

I hope you have a smooth return to Greensboro. Welcome home.

Hehe.. well its my first time to actually post anything on here. Hope it well for them and not get scammed by my kababayans.. lol

I'm actually anxious with my own application. I need to travel back home because my dad is on his death bed. I might need to go to Charlotte to try to plead for a travel document since I know AP takes about a month too and aside from that, I need to have my passport changed for my married name which will take another 8 to 12 weeks. Just one problem to another.

Welcome to VJ.

I'm sorry to hear about your father. After you file your AOS then call USCIS and ask them for an expedited AP so you can go back and be with your dad. Don't stay out of the country for more than a month or two. Best to be back in USC with in a month. Otherwise they may think you are abandoning your visa/AOS. Don't change your passport till after you settle things with your father. You can travel on your passport and your marriage certificate. No problem there.

Thank you for the welcome note.

Oh really? They would accept just our marriage certificate and passport? My husband will be traveling with me too anyways.

I just got my case nos. For the AOS, AP and EAP the other night and I sent out everything via USPS carrier July 21(Thursday). I plan on calling uscis tomorrow first thing.

I have also been reading threads about overstay and floating status. Some posted that the US immigration might not allow or worse ban the applicant from coming in because there was a period of not having a status or basically an illegal stay. (Scarythought) I wasn't able to send my AOS because my husband got very sick (being in and out of the hospital) and only gotten better/able to walk and drive just a month and a half ago. I was out of status for more than a year so that's my fear too. Hope you're following me. What do you think?
