Hello,

First of all, thank you for this amazing forum. I've found invaluable information and am very thankful to the entire VJ community.

Here's my situation:

- I am a french citizen living in the United Arab Emirates. My spouse, a USC citizen also lives here. We are going the CR1 route.

- I have two french passports. My normal passport and a secondary "business" passport that was given to me because I travel a lot with my job and to avoid being left without passport when my first passport is left for visa processing in a consulate. This second passport can or cannot be renewed (for renewal, in a few years, I will have to prove that I still need it for professional reasons)

- My UAE residency visa is stamped in this second business passport

- During the CR1 process, on the form DS-260 for example, I am asked to write my passport number and details.

My question is the following: is it okay to write the details of my normal passport or will there be a problem at the Abu Dhabi US consulate because my UAE residency (proving that I live in the UAE) is stamped in my second business passport?

Or is it just a question of inputing the passport with which I intend to immigrate to the US? Of course, I would like to use my "normal" passport because there is no risk of non renewal for that one.

Thank you in advance for your answers. I know it's a tough one :)

i would use the normal passport with all pages sent to immigration

and attach an explantion of the other with all pages attached

IMMIgraiton really wants to know where you have traveled

more important "Does your USC spouse have the ties to the US?

Has he/she filed taxes for the income in UAE?

Does he/ she have a residence here in the US?

Do you know where you will live here?

Income in the UAE for a nonresident is much lower than a citzen, so does spouse meet the guidelines for visa?

you do not have to answer me, but know you need all this and check the guidelines for the CR 1 visa

Best to you

Thank you for your reply.

I'm not sure I understand your first point:

"i would use the normal passport with all pages sent to immigration

and attach an explantion of the other with all pages attached

When it comes to the passport, the first time I even need to mention my current passport is in the DS-260 form. This is the same passport I will need to show at the US consulate during my interview.

So my question is the following: should I use my passport with UAE residence or my "normal" passport?

I don't believe the green card is "linked" to the passport so once in the US, it won't make a difference I believe.
