Married J-1 Visa

I need help! I married a J-1 Visa, and we are just now finishing up the I-130 and G-325a's and are going to send them in. Now his J-1 visa is up in about 5 months. Is there anything that we can do so that he doesn't have to leave in 5 months? He does not have the 2 year rule, so no waiver is required.

Why not just adjust his status in country?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

How do we adjust his status?

He does not have to leave , even if his j-1 visa expires..................while you are adjusting his status here in the USA. He can remain while the application is pending and while you both are awaiting a decision.
