How long does it take to process the 221g form? (MTL)

Hi,

I went for my interview at the Montreal consulate. Everything went good but the interviewer said I would need to send an updated letter of employment from the petitioner before everything will be complete.

Any idea how long it takes to process roughly once he receives it? I tried searching and had no luck.

I was also given a 221g at my interview. The sooner you send your documents in, the less time you will need to wait. I was able to send my additional documents in a week after my interview. Once received, it took them a month to issue my visa. This was right before american thanksgiving, and then of course the holidays in december were extremely slow. You might have a less wait time now that holidays are over.

There are a few people who received 221g's back in November and December who are still waiting though. Every case is difficult, so it's hard to tell exactly how long. Hope this sort of helps!

November 16 2015: Interview in Montreal

Result: Approved, but additional documents requested

November 25: Documents received by consulate

December 29: Visa's in hand!

December 29: POE at Peace Bridge

January 5: Married!!!! (L)

January 11: Applied for SSN

January 18: Sent out I-485 packet

January 19: Received SSN card

January 29: Received text notification that I-485 package has been received

February: Additional documents requested

May 25: Advance Parole granted (pointless, in my case)

June 3 2016: Green Cards received!!

Thanks

Here's to hoping mine is quick as well. They received it on this past Monday which is a week after my interview pretty much.

I assume you had your interview at MTL?

Just wanted to update this post for anyone who comes across it in the future.

01/14/2016 - MTL Interview (Officer requested an updated letter of employment, aside from that, everything's good,) CEAC shows "Administrative Processing."

01/25/2016 - MTL Embassy receives requested information

01/28/2016 - CEAC Website says the status was updated and still shows "Administrative Processing."

02/01/2016 - CEAC Website says status was updated and shows "Visa Issued" "Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it in more than five (5) working days, please go to http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_courrier_information to track your courier waybill."

It looks like I should be able to pick up my passport by the end of the week, if not early next week!

Hope this post helps anyone in the future! Will edit this post when I receive my passport in hand with visa!
