I am getting ready to send the I130 for my husband. We have the international marriage license. Is that enough or do I need to translate the Bosnian language one to English and send it?

You need to have it translated into English and attached to original sending both in

all foreign documents need to be translated into English with originals

in the future if they ask for further documents write the receipt number in upper right hand corner with both DOB's

Receipt number will be given when application is received and check is cashed by USCIS

Keep copies of everything you submit / truly everything

if it's the international version of a Bosnian Marriage License -

what's the 2nd language in the license ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I think it is french. On the back side is the key but it has mistakes. So my best bet would be translating it to English.

So I send originals, so I send the marriage license in native language original and the tranlsated version. Right?

no. send only a photocopy of the International Marriage Certificate plus the translation.

whilst yer staring at the thing - try to be certain of one distinction, aye?

A License 'allows' you to get married.

A Certificate is the 'record' of that fact.

Whatcha got?

I submitted mine without a translation, I did explain in my cover sheet that the translations were on the back with the 9 other languages our international records show :).

But that being said, peace of mind would suggest to get it translated. I got approved on my form I-130 without it, but it could be that I just got lucky with who was reviewing my case :).

Good luck :D

Nema na cemu.

By the way we are supposed to stay in English outside of the regional forums so that others can use the information when they have similar questions.

It took a few days over 5 months to get my I-130 approved from when I sent it. I am currently waiting at the last part of the NVC process.

It depends where your form gets sent after the lockbox. Cross your fingers that you go to California because they have drastically shorter processing times. Otherwise if you go to Nebraska like mine did it will be 5 months.

Also I suggest front loading evidence, that means put as much as you can into your packet to prove your relationship so that there is less skepticism early.

Good luck!!

Also! Create your timeline as soon as you send your packet, and as soon as you know where the petition gets sent update your timeline again as it gives you estimated approval dates!!

Oh, sorry did not know that no proglem English it is!

We are married for 7 years and have to children and all live in BiH. We will have a joint sponsor when we get to the next stage.

Is the NVC proces complicated? Probably lots of paper work.

I hope it goes faster then 5 months!!

Thank you again.

Oh are you doing direct consular filing then? In that case it will be much much faster, sorry I thought you lived in the united states since it says you filed in Chicago Lockbox

If you aren't doing DCF look it up here because living there qualifies you for it

The NVC isn't too complicated, but yes just collecting all the documents and paying more fees :)

I did submit it in the US, but that's because I live here.

See this link: http://www.visajourney.com/content/dcf

I have not read many of those instructions because they don't apply to me. But if you can do this it will make your process way faster!

I guess I thought of it late....Should have filled in 2011.

So Sarajevo does not accept petitions any more. But I will double check again.

Step One: Filing the Immigrant Visa Petition

Effective August 15, 2011, petitioners residing overseas will no longer be able to routinely file Forms I-130, Petitions for Alien Relative, with U.S. Embassies and Consulates except in locations where U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has a public counter presence within the Embassy or Consulate. Petitioners residing overseas in countries where USCIS does not have a public counter presence will be required, starting August 15, 2011, to file their Forms I-130 by mail with the USCIS Chicago lockbox.

Hopefully it will not take long. So your sending a petition for your husband? Since I have not lived in the States for 7 years we need a joing sponsor or I move with the kdis first and then the petition. This webiste helps a lot with the process.
