Hey VJ members,

My wife moved here from Canada the 1st week of January and has not worked since. She finally got here GC in Oct but still did not work (due to being to far along in her pregnancy with our first child) So since she did not work at all would i just file normally as single, married, married filling separately. Trying to get the max amount back ( as is everyone else) also can i just use turbo tax ? I know you guys hate breaking down each persons questions. Sorry in advance.

You can file jointly with her, even if she had no income herself. You get an extra exemption and standard deduction by adding her to your tax return. She needs a SSN.

Yes you can use TurboTax.

Married filing jointly is likely the best way.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
