New passport while in the K-1 process

Hi everyone, quick question. I received my interview date at the consular office but have an issue. The passport with the passport number I have been using all along has gone through the washing machine and is now damaged. I know that if I was to apply for another one, the new one would have a new passport number which will not coincide with the number I have been using all along to this date. Is there a way I can notify anyone of a new passport number? There is an option on the passport application to request the old passport back, perhaps if I did that and brought both to the interview that might help? Thanks, Mike

I changed my passport during the process. I wanted it renewed so that I wouldn't have to worry about it for 10 years or so after moving to the USA.

I doubt it will be an issue at all. Certainly good if you can get the old one returned (in the UK they do that as standard, with the corner cut off to show it is no longer valid). So long as your name, birthday and place of birth have not changed in the new passport, I'm sure they'll have no problem with it.
