I just got back from Thailand and went through Chicago, Ohara. Nice and easy there; not problems.

My experience is limited, but last summer I went through Philadelphia and it went just fine. I've been hearing good things about Philadelphia from other people on this board and other boards, too. When I went in, the officer even asked about the purpose of my visit and I stated I was visiting my girlfriend; that, I later came to know, is likely to raise a lil' red flag in the dude's head but he let me through with no problem, no further questions asked. He just yelled at me a little for taking my finger off the fingerprint device thingy too fast for my print to register in the computer.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE VISA, Have a great life in the US. I just purchased a ticket for my sweetie from PI to Oklahoma city via Northwest Airlines. It was $900 and I purchased it on line from nwa.com. I tried the travel agents, but all of them were much more than her ticket. the POE is Minneapolis, and I understand it is quite good. I have made many trips to PI and I can tell you that it depends on the customs agent as to whether they are nice or not. Most have treated me very well, while there was one time a woman agent treated me like and asked me questions as though I was a child molester. I got angry but did not comment as I simply wanted to get thru the customs without any problem. I don't know what her problem was but she was a B*#$%. Chances are you wont have any problems at all.

Possible POE's for JAX are:

  • ORD
  • DFW
  • JFK
  • ATL
  • IAD
  • STL
  • MIA
  • TPA
  • MCO

IMO, MCO (Orlando) would be your best bet.

Correct me if I am wrong -- and I may very well be -- but wouldn't the airports you travel to and from vary depending on which airlines you fly? Airlines have hubs in different cities (i.e. Continental in Houston, Delta in Atlanta, United in Denver, Northwest in Minneapolis/St. Paul, etc) and therefore, tend to fly to, through and from those airports more often. That doesn't mean those airlines don't fly to and from other airports, but I've just noticed that with different airlines you might have different airports as well.

True -- but I based my reply on "simple" geography (all destinations for JAX--based on Wiki--are in US. If it is ACTUALLY "International", then it's a no-brainer that it would be the ideal POE for that destination).

It does matter which airline you use. I use EVA Air since they generally provide the best prices, but they only come through SFO, LAX or SEA. For me there are direct flights to MSP from any of those POE's, ussualy SFO comes out to be the cheapest.
