just received a checklist :ranting: asking proof of beneficiary's residency ( she is an Indian citizen but currently studying in Canada ) .

sent the required docs .

oh well another 30-45 days from now :(

Ouch 30 to 45 days that's what they told you? Did you put her Indian home address on some form and her Canadian address somewhere else? I'm curious cause my wife is a citizen of an EU country but she lives in England. So what would be the key to avoid this checklist?

30-45 days is what i read somewhere in the forum.

No they did not mention anything. Just told us to submit a proof of Canadian residency like Canadian passport or if you are not Canadian resident then Canadian visa with 6 months validity. If satisfactory documents are not submitted then the interview will be held at the previous country of residence which in our case will be India

We sent her Canadian visa copy via email ASAP.

Good part is that we sent all the documents on 14th May and today we got the checklist. So that means they looked at our documents. Hope this will not take long as well

We wrote her present and mailing address as her Canadian address. The only place we had written the Indian address was in ds260 where they asked previous residential addresses

Basically it starts the CC process over again, so yea, seems to be about 30 days =(

Although if you asked the people at the NVC how long it took to cook minute rice, they'd tell you either 30-45 days or "up to 42 days", as that seems to be their answer for everything =)

Ok thanks Sanil. Does the DS260 provide a way to upload a file to it or something. Like lets say I have a document to prove residency that would give them proof so to avoid getting checklisted?

I will, only I think after the DS260 you don't want to follow me cause after that I'll wait for my wife to finish her classes in about 3 months to work on getting the police certificate and stuff. :) But at that stage its more like just getting all the dicuments ready and ship them to NVC.

So my AOS is showing paid but the IV still hasn't been invoiced. Also, have you started filling out the I864 forms now? And I'm guessing these forms have to all be mailed (and cannot be emailed) with the check list that was sent in the welcome email?

I checked my IV fee status a couple times after I paid AOS. At first for the IV fee it always said Not Invoiced and the checkbox was shown, but I couldn't check it. The last 2 days or so I saw that the Not Invoiced wording was missing from the IV thing and the checkbox was gone. I figured something was up, and turns out it was!

I'm going to wait on my I-864, I'm trying to get a new job. I could get a co-sponsor but I'd rather have a job when I put that in. Its not a real hurry cause like I said my wife wants to finish her classes so I have 3 months, plus to get the IR-1 you have to be married for at least 2 years so 3 months delay works fine for us.

That NVC_Process link said some people were eligible to send there documents electronically but it gave a link to find out if you're eligible, but the link is broken!

Oh I see, I guess I can wait a few days too. I'm waiting on the IRS transcripts to be mailed to me as well so I'll just try to get the other papers together meanwhile. I'm not working right now but my parents who I live with are going be household sponsors. I hope that'll be okay.

It's just a lot happening at once and I'm a bit nervous about doing anything wrong.

Ok thanks! But if you send the IV package after the DS260 you would have already gotten checklisted. Ah maybe I'm over thinking this stuff when I don't even know how it works. Also she's in the EU which makes things confusing cause in the EU your allowed to live in other EU countries so this may not even be an issue! Thanks! :)

I don't remember seeing any place to upload that. Would suggest you to include that in the IV package and write a letter stating why you included that

XD Yea, that probably would be either mush or pure carbon. Either way, they's still stick to their "30-45 days" or "up to 42 days" statements :D

No interview appointment as of yet, hoping to hear soon though! Wishing quick approvals for all!

Yes that should be fine, I think you still fill out the I-864 and your co sponsor fills out one of the i-865 variety forms. There's a lot happening but the wait times are a little more manageable than the USCIS part where you didn't have any clue of what was going on.

Lot of stuff happening but mostly just put the stuff together in a way that makes sense. Remember the goal is just to show you've got a legitimate marriage. Show you've got know contagious disease, have every right to live in the US, you're not serial killers, etc. :D
